I’m convinced that we can do great things together,” he said at his Press conference.“I have respect for the fans and they have the right to criticise me, but for me it’s an extra stimulus.“I’ll get to work on both the players’ heads and how we set up on the field. These will be 10 important days and I’ll try to make the most of every opportunity.“My principles are based on ideas, intensity and ruthlessness. Giampaolo’s a good Coach, but he’s different to me.“I’ll have to be good at getting my ideas across to the team as quickly as possible. Let’s start with a good base.“There are some quality players here. Marco’s worked well. I’d like to play the football that the lads will enjoy playing.“I adapt to my players. I have to improve them individually so they can grow collectively.”The 53-year-old coached Inter with little success during the 2016-17 campaign and was an Nerazzurri fan growing up…“The past is the past, I was a kid. Now I’m an adult, a professional who has a great desire to do well.“I need to get to know my players. I’m very demanding of them and myself. I can’t stand shallowness and a lack of ambition. We must do our utmost to achieve great results.”

Waddle: England will not have better chance of winning Eurosby Paul Vegas14 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveFormer England winger Chris Waddle says the country will not have a better chance of winning the European Championships than next year. The 2020 edition will be held throughout 12 countries, with the semi-finals and final to be played at Wembley in London.Speaking to racingpost.com, Waddle said: “With the semi-finals and final being held at Wembley, England are not going to get a better chance of winning the European Championship than next year.”Gareth Southgate has done a good job and he has not been scared to bring players through. Against the Netherlands and Switzerland, they didn’t really perform and they didn’t play like England have been in the last 18 months.”But they have been generally playing well and I would be surprised if England don’t at least reach the last four at Euro 2020.”In qualifying it can be difficult going to hostile atmospheres across Europe, but they hammered Czech Republic at home and football-wise I haven’t seen a team in their group who are even 50 or 60 per cent as good as England are.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

Mauricio Pochettino insists he is under no pressure to deliver a trophy at Tottenham, with his remit merely to secure a top-four finish as rivals continue to splash the cash. The Argentine is yet to win major silverware during his time in north London, despite overseeing Spurs’ transition into Premier League title contenders and Champions League regulars. He was the only manager not to bolster his ranks during the summer transfer window of 2018 and is not expecting to be busy throughout January. Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Instead, Pochettino is looking to keep Tottenham on track as they prepare to make a return to a redeveloped White Hart Lane – with that project having eaten up much of the club’s finances. He said ahead of the first leg of a Carabao Cup semi-final clash with capital rivals Chelsea: “When Daniel Levy called me to offer a contract here, he was clear – him and owner Joe Lewis.“They said: ‘Mauricio, you need to prepare and to help the club to arrive to the new stadium. When we finish the new stadium, in the first season at the new stadium, we need to have a team that can finish in the top four in the season after’.“We are in advance of that, no? That is why sometimes I laugh when the people say we need to win a trophy.”Pochettino has been forced to watch on as the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool have spent big in the transfer market, while Jose Mourinho was given £420 million in a little over two years before being relieved of his duties at Manchester United. With Spurs nowhere near matching that kind of outlay, talk of demands for success have been downplayed.“If I had arrived at Tottenham and Daniel says you have £300m to spend, it is my responsibility to win,” added Pochettino.“Come on, if I was to spend £300m and then say the project is to build step by step and be in the top four or maybe win something…. Come on, it’s not normal, this. When the club offers you the job they say what the club expects from you.“If the club says to you ‘I want you to win the Champions League, the Premier League, the Carabao Cup’, you say ‘OK, you want to win this and this and this? Can you give me this and this and this?’“Yes? OK, then I need to deliver it and win.”Pochettino has Spurs sat third in the Premier League table at present, six points adrift of leaders Liverpool while also progressing positively in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League.
YouTube/Colin CowherdMichigan vs. Wisconsin is one of the biggest games of the weekend, with two top 10 Big Ten teams battling it out. FOX Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd doesn’t think the game will be close. The Wolverines are 10-point favorites over the Badgers at home. Michigan, the No. 4 team in the country, has looked very good so far this season, but Wisconsin has been one of the more surprising clubs in the country, with wins over LSU and Michigan State, a week after the Spartans landed a big win at Notre Dame. Wisconsin’s 30-6 win has Badger fans riding high, but FS1’s Colin Cowherd isn’t impressed.During his normal spot with Joel Klatt on The Herd, Cowherd argued that Wisconsin got all kinds of breaks against the Spartans, and that the Wolverines are more talented and don’t make mistakes on offense. Therefore, Cowherd expects a blowout home win for the Wolverines. He’s so confident, he’s made it is “lock of the year,” with a fancy graphic and everything.Michigan definitely deserves to be a favorite in this one, based on how the season has played out, but the Badgers have earned respect. Their game against Georgia State was not impressive, but on top of the LSU and Michigan State wins, the Badgers also blew out a decent MAC squad in Akron. We’re excited for this one.Michigan vs. Wisconsin kicks off at 3:30 p.m. E.T. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
BATON ROUGE, LA – OCTOBER 13: LSU Tigers huddles up before a game against the Georgia Bulldogs at Tiger Stadium on October 13, 2018 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images)The Georgia Bulldogs, the No. 2 team in the country and last year’s runner-up in the College Football Playoff, are officially on the ropes. LSU is giving the Bulldogs all they can handle in Baton Rouge on Saturday afternoon.LSU, coming off a tough loss to Florida, dominated the first half to build up a 16-0 lead at the break. Heading into the fourth quarter, it’s now 19-9. Georgia is going to have to score twice and get stops to have a shot to stay undefeated.LSU quarterback Joe Burrow hasn’t played his best game, but he is 13-of-28 for 154 yards with no turnovers. He also has a rushing touchdown.Georgia signal-caller Jake Fromm has struggled as well – he’s just 11-of-27 for 123 yards with an interception.Holyfield scores the touchdown … but the failed two-pointer still leaves Georgia down by two scores.#LSU 19, #UGA 9 #UGAvsLSU (Start of the 4th quarter)— 11Alive Sports (@11AliveSports) October 13, 2018LSU’s lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run from Burrow. Georgia’s score came from Elijah Holyfield on a 10-yard run. The Bulldogs were unable to convert a two-point try after their touchdown.Georgia is 6-0 on the season, and obviously, a loss would do a lot of damage to their College Football Playoff resume. You can watch the final period on CBS.
LINCOLN, NE – SEPTEMBER 29: Head coach Jeff Brohm of the Purdue Boilermakers looks on during warmups before the game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium on September 29, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska. (Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images)The recent decision by Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm to stay with the Boilermakers and snub a potential offer from his alma mater Louisville has led to incredulity across the internet. However, new details have emerged that may suggest a very simple reason for staying put: money.According to Yahoo! Sports, Purdue offered Brohm a raise from $4 million to $6 million per year, along with added incentives to his contract. The Yahoo! Sports report noted that Louisville presented a seven-year, $35 million offer (~$5 million per year).Per NBC analyst Kevin McGuire, that $6 million salary makes Brohm an even higher-paid coach than his counterparts at Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State, Washington, USC, Wisconsin, and LSU – among others. If Jeff Brohm is going to get $6 million per year from Purdue, then he’d then be making more than the current yearly salaries of the head coaches at Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State, Washington, USC, Wisconsin, and LSU, just to name a few.— Kevin McGuire (@KevinOnCFB) November 29, 2018The Cardinals have been actively searching for a head coach since parting ways with Bobby Petrino earlier this month. One of the reasons Brohm has been such a popular candidate for Louisville is his numerous ties to the school and the city.Brohm just completed his second year with the Boilermakers, leading them to a 6-6 record that included a 49-20 upset win over Ohio State. The Boilermakers are also primed to bring in a top-25 recruiting class for the 2019 cycle. Brohm’s relationship with his players and potential recruits also likely played a role in his decision.

(Photo by Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images)The Michigan State Spartans have a 7-5 record, and are in the running for one of the Big Ten’s mid-tier bowl slots. Let’s take a look at the latest regarding where Michigan State football could land.It wasn’t a banner season for the Spartans. The team had some nice wins over Penn State and Purdue, but failed to beat rivals Michigan and Ohio State, each of whom took home double-digit wins in East Lansing. They also fell to upstart Nebraska a few weeks ago.The Spartans will be behind Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and likely Big Ten West champion Northwestern in the bowl pecking order. They’ll be jockeying with teams like Wisconsin, Purdue, and Iowa for spots.A new bowl projection as Michigan State football heading down to Tampa for the Outback Bowl.On Friday, Sports Illustrated’s Eric Single released a new set of bowl projections. He projected that the Spartans would head to the Outback Bowl to face No. 18 Mississippi State out of the SEC.The Big Ten bowl situation largely depends on what happens in tonight’s championship game, and tomorrow’s College Football Playoff selection.Ohio State remains alive for a CFP bid, but needs some help to leap over Georgia, which is a big underdog to Alabama tonight, and Oklahoma, which is in a dogfight with rival Texas at the moment. If Ohio State makes the field, Michigan probably moves up to the Rose Bowl, and it could open up some other options.Single’s projections have Ohio State missing the Playoff and heading to the Rose Bowl, with Michigan going to the Peach Bowl, Penn State to the Citrus bowl, and Northwestern in the TaxSlayer Bowl. The Outback Bowl will be played at noon on January 1 at Raymond James Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.[Sports Illustrated]
CHAMPAIGN, IL – NOVEMBER 16: A general view of Memorial Stadium as the Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Illinois Fighting Illini on November 16, 2013 in Champaign, Illinois. Ohio State defeated Illinois 60-35. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)The Big Ten should once again be one of the top conferences in college football next season. One of the hallmarks of the league is its strong roster of coaches.Urban Meyer is gone, but Mark Dantonio, Jim Harbaugh, Pat Fitzgerald, James Franklin, Kirk Ferentz, Paul Chryst, Jeff Brohm and Scott Frost are still there. We’ll also get to see how Ryan Day fares taking over at Ohio State.Unfortunately, when you rank the coaches in this league, someone has to be on the bottom. Brad Crawford of 247Sports released his 1-to-14 list of Big Ten head coaches today.Illinois’ Lovie Smith was in last:Smith’s first college head coaching job after 11 years in the NFL has been a disaster. Illinois is 4-23 against Big Ten competition during his tenure (0-10 vs. ranked teams) and many of those contests haven’t been competitive. With the program handcuffed and unable to do anything with a bad contract, Smith received a two-year extension from the Illini in November.Illinois has been a tough program to win at for some time now, and the Illini hiring of Smith was definitely a calculated risk. It hasn’t paid off yet, and there’s no guarantee it will.Rutgers’ Chris Ash follows Smith at No. 13, and might actually have a hotter seat than his Illinois counterpart. Rutgers has won seven games total in Ash’s first three seasons and is coming off a 1-11 campaign. His own AD has put added pressure on Ash to perform, and another poor season might be his last. You can read Crawford’s full rankings here.
